The A39 was given a very powerful 32 lbr (94mm) gun and extensive frontal armor. The british needed something with enough firepower and armour to be able to compete with germany's might JagdTiger and they came up with the A39 Tortoise, aptly named for its shell haped hull and central mounted gun. They had to be transoprted into battle on large flatbed trucks and when unleashed they were a formiddable adversary to say the least. But because of its weight, the whole program was cancelled.

This is the tier VIII British experimental. In game the A39 is a very powerful machine with a monstrous gun that rips enemies to shreds. It also has a slightly higher mobility that it's american cousin the T28. The vehicle speed is pretty slow and the A39 has a narrow gun arc which makes the tank extremely easy to put out of action by flanking it. The armor, just like with any experimental, is much thicker than that of WWII tanks. The A39 should be played like a TD (Tank Destroyer) since it excels in long range gunnery duels, it can also handle itself in close combat but it's strongly recommended to NOT get up close and personal unless the enemy has no chance of flanking you. Played correctly you should always finish towards the top of the list and can easily change the battle outcome. However, the frontal armour is not invincible and its MG turret on the top of the hull gives enemies a weak point to be able to hit frontally. So
when using the superb gun depression the A39 offers be sure to hide the MG as much as you can, otherwise your foes with steadily take large chunks of health.
Strong points : - Great combination of Armor, Damage, Aiming and Handling compared to other turretless.
Weakness : - Slow to move & reload
